What Happens When a Domain Expires?

When a domain expires, if it is not renewed within a specific period (typically an additional period ranging from 30 to 90 days), the domain becomes inactive and is opened for public registration.

In this case, the domain can be registered by someone else. If the expired domains are not renewed by their owners, they can be re-registered for a redemption fee or lost entirely.
